Asian Human Services Petitions Illinois for Healthcare Funding

To Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and Illinois Legislative Leaders:

We the undersigned urge you to dedicate a fair share of state funding to the growing needs of the Asian American community in Illinois.  Specifically, we request $2 million in new state capital funding to help Asian Human Services provide clinic space to meet the demands of this community, which is rapidly expanding in both size and diversity.

Illinois’ Asian American population increase has created dramatic and unique health care, education, day care, language and employment needs that are currently not being met by state government.

Preschool classes that serve Asian American children are being closed, even while demand is increasing.  Human services, such as medical care, dental care and mental health treatment, are becoming increasingly difficult for many to access.

Please demonstrate your dedication to the Asian American community in Illinois by providing $2 million in new state capital funding for Asian Human Services' clinic space.
